Once again, the summer edition of Pitti that was held last week in Florence, opened in the rain. It took ages to get to the Fortezza da Basso but photographers did have time to capture the best looks worn by the fair’s visitors.
The 108th edition attracted approimately 15,000 visitors including just over 11,000 buyers for 740 exhibitors.
To report on this year's event, we met 4 of the French brands we support with DEFI, plus one buyer.
I imagine a more avant-garde aesthetic than what I usually see at Pitti. There's more risk-taking and diversity, whether it's casual or dressy and sometimes it’s a bit sexier too while retaining a certain idea of chic.
In this more casual season, we saw a sophisticated interpretation of denim, accompanied, for example, by stripes and checks that should be a commercial success. The general mood was about getting out of the city and having extended vacations. There were more travel accessories or shoes and bags in raffia or woven materials. There was an unstructured approach and a softness to the collections, buoyed by more refined materials: intentionally crumpled linens, jackets in lightweight silks, sneakers in soft, unlined suedes...
